HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
Everyone at CMS wish you and your family a happy new year!!!!

OAT Rotations
January 11th we will begin OAT interventions to prepare your child for the tests in April.  Your student will get extra help in Math and Reading 4 out of 5 days for the next 14 weeks. 

Camp Joy 
There will be a mandatory 6th grade camp meeting Thursday, January 14th at 7pm in the MS auditorium.

Students in the building
Please, if at all possible, do not drop students off until after 7am.  We do not supervise students until 7am.  Circumstances do arise,  please contact us if needed.

8th Grade MVCTC field trip
STUDENTS WILL BE GOING TO THE MIAMI VALLEY CAREER TECHNICAL CENTER ON JANUARY 20, 21 AND 22, 2010. 
 PERMISSION SLIPS WERE HANDED OUT THIS WEEK.  THEY ARE DUE ON JANUARY 8, 2010.  THEY CANNOT ATTEND WITHOUT A PERMISSION SLIP.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE PERMISSION SLIP IS SIGNED AND COMES BACK TO SCHOOL.

Wednesday School/Extra Help/Tutoring
Students that are failing 2 or more classes are required to stay the normal time on early release days.  Students can work on missing assignments; make up work, extra studying.  If they are assigned a Study Table it is mandatory.  Failure to show, or make arrangements, will result in disciplinary action.   Our numbers have been dropping since we have implemented the Study Tables program.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day January 25th 

Straight “A” Reds tickets
Students that hit a home run academically can earn free Reds tickets for the 2010 season.  Students that earn an “A” average the 2nd 9 weeks will be eligible to receive an order form for 2 free View Level seats. 

Snow Days and Early dismissal
Please remember, if there are any closings, or early dismissals, due to inclement weather all activities are off.  HS activities do not fall under these rules.

Phone Messages
We are receiving numerous phone messages to deliver to students on a daily basis.  Each and every EMERGENCY message will be forwarded immediately to students.  Please limit your requests to those messages that are of an emergency nature. 

Student Absences
If a student is absent, please call the school at 746-3227 before 10:00 am to report the absence. When the student returns to school, he or she has two school days to turn in either a parent note or doctor’s note giving a reason for the absence. In order for the absence to be excused, this note must be turned in to the attendance office (regardless of whether or not a call to school was made).



If a student has a doctor’s appointment, please bring a doctor’s note to excuse the absence.

Medicine at School
Students are not allowed to possess medicine (even over –the-counter varieties) while on school property. All medicine must be turned to the office by a parent with a doctor’s note describing its use.  Failure to comply with this rule may result in disciplinary action.


Cellular Phones
Students are not allowed to use or have cellular phones at school during the hours of 7:25-2:10. If a student is found to have a cell phone on during school hours, the phone will be held in the office until a parent is able to come to the school and retrieve the phone.


Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up
We will continue our new drop off procedure.  Parents will enter in the east parking lot and proceed down the new access road.  Drop offs will turn left to the designated area.  Please remember that students are NOT to be dropped off in front of the school (Fairview) until after 7:30am. 

Progress Book
Parents – Progress Book is a great way to keep up with how your son or daughter is doing at school. Please be sure to visit Progress Book to view your child’s daily assignments and grades. Our teachers are making every effort to post assignments daily and update grades at least weekly.

Must be paid, or arrangements made with treasurers office, before student is allowed to participate any extra curricula’s

CMS “All Call”
If you are not getting the messages that I am sending home, please call CMS at 746-3227.  We will send viable information with upcoming event, school closings, conferences, and testing information.
